Harvest Time in the Vegetable Garden

It’s harvest time again in our small vegetable garden! The children are always delighted to discover what has grown in the raised beds. Together, they observe, marvel and harvest.

Over the past few weeks, the raised beds have offered a colourful selection of vegetables ready to be picked: courgettes, pumpkins, peppers and cucumbers. For the children, it is a wonderful experience to see how a small seed or young plant gradually develops into something that can eventually be harvested and eaten.

From watering and observing to harvesting, the children attentively follow the plants’ development. Along the way, they take on responsibility in a playful way, practise patience and experience nature with all their senses. The question of what could be prepared from the freshly harvested vegetables also inspires many curious conversations and creative ideas.

The vegetable garden therefore becomes a special place for learning and discovery: full of small discoveries, shared moments of success and, of course, plenty of fresh vegetables.
